Transit - Oriented Development: What's the Buzz?

Here are just a few reasons why TOD is important to everyone

  • Rapidly growing, mind-numbing traffic congestion nation-wide
  • Growing desire for quality urban lifestyle
  • Growing desire for more walkable lifestyles away from traffic
  • Growing national support for Smart Growth
  • New focus of Federal policy

NCCLF is proud to host our Spring Annual Event at The Ed Roberts Campus(ERC) at the ASHBY Bart station in Berkeley. Not only is ERC a beautiful example of TOD, the facility also offers a universal design for people with disabilities to receive many governmental and nonprofit services in an easily accessible one-stop location.  NCCLF was able to provide $25.5 million of New Markets Tax Credits for the building of this unique facility.

We have some outstanding presenters lined up for the event. Lydia Tan, a former executive with BRIDGE Housing and currently with Related California, will moderate the panel members.  They include Claudia Cappio, a former Director of Planning and Development with the City of Oakland under Mayor Jerry Brown's administration, Dmitri Belser, the President of the Ed Roberts Campus, and Oz Erickson, Chairman of The Emerald Fund, a real estate developer in the bay area since 1979.

We will also be presenting our Community Impact Awards to outstanding organizations that have made significant impact in the area of community development.

Please join is for an evening of lively discussion, hors d' oevres, and entertainment
by the Los Cenzontles Dancers, who will be presenting a blend of
music and dance rooted in the Mexican culture.
